The general objective of the project is to recognize and examine alternatives for fire risks prevention and mitigation in order to better control them and reduce the material losses and casualties associated with fire risks. It will enhance and promote cross-border co-operation with the exchange of information and practices on fire prevention and mitigation policies and measures. The main output is the creation of a joint volunteerism network, working supportively to “civil protection” services. The project consists of the following: • Training seminars given by civil protection experts • Study tours and training courses of volunteers • Study regarding the current state analysis, good practices in both areas and a manual – guide regarding the volunteers’ role and tasks in emergency situations • Development of “fire prevention and mitigation” management plans • Supply “on the spot” equipment for the volunteers (palm top pc, GPS, relevant software) • supply and plantation of 10.000 plants in burned areas of both countries
