The main goal of the project is to create and implement cross-border social initiative – the street workers programme – by involving community members from both cross-border countries in order to combat such problems like living in abandoned environment in the backyards, facing unemployment of parents, growth of drugs and alcohol using, violent crime rates and life in the streets. Project beneficiaries using a problem-solving approach, sharing experience and knowledge, are ready to make the necessary change right now. The main tasks of beneficiaries are: implementation of the joint social programme for street workers with concrete actions including selection of the street workers team, organisation of the joint training for team members, creation of the street workers programme; realisation of the joint events for vulnerable groups, including survival camps for at-risk kids and youth, involvement of different vulnerable groups endangered by social exclusion, poverty and discrimination in the cross-border cooperation; building durable social cross-border network by involving cross-border communities to take joint action in solving problems as well as modernisation of the community infrastructure in Alytus city community centre and Elk city municipality. Target groups of the project are cross-border at-risk kids and youth, their families and street workers. NGOs, police, education organisations, probation office, social support centres and other institutions will be also involved into the project activities.
