Volcanism in insular environments represents an important natural and economic resource. However, it also represents a real threat to the socio-economic development of some ultra-peripheral regions of the European Union. The project objective, financed by the European initiative INTERREG IIB is to promote the main recommended actions to reduce the risk associated to the volcanic danger in the Canaries and Azores. There are basically three actions: to elaborate maps with the determination of the volcanic danger areas; optimization of the volcanic alert systems and the elaboration of emergency plans that can be tested by populations.
