In 2011 - in light of the landscape transformations in the areas near Biella and river Ticino and of the European Landscape Convention (that Italy has ratified in 2006 and that is currently being ratified in Switzerland) - different areas that had dealt with similar problems showed interest in cooperating so as to share best practices in participated-landscape management. The project aims at sharing past experiences and competencies between Italian and Suisse partners and setting up a new experiment based on common grounds to be applied to both areas. The experiment will take place in several Italian and Suisse municipalities chosen for the significance of their local landscape dimension and their representativeness of typical contemporary socio environmental alpine landscape situations. The project will involve the local population as well as landscape experts and operators.
