The implemented project includes actions related to expanding and improving the infrastructure of the border crossing point in Kuźnica Białostocka. The actions are aimed at preventing and counteracting illegal migration, combating smuggling, fighting organized crime, as well as counteracting and eliminating illegal trade in rare and endangered species. The implementation of these actions will contribute to the cross-border effect by more efficient and effective screening of vehicles and goods crossing the border, improving and facilitating border traffic, as well as increasing trade and boosting business contacts on both sides of the border. Shorter and more successful controls results from increased numbers of cleared vehicles, rising the number of people and cars crossing the border. Also, the quality of clearances on the Kuźnica Białostocka road crossing-point will improve, which is a strategic objective related to fulfilling Schengen zone standards in relation to the protection of EU’s external borders. The investments will also improve the working conditions of the border authorities. The location of the Kuźnica Białostocka and Bruzgi border crossings will become more attractive. The implementation of the project will be beneficial for the border guard, customs service, the staff of the Border Crossing Service Unit using the infrastructure created within the project, as well as entrepreneurs importing and exporting goods, and local government authorities. The investment will influence the socio-economic development of the region, positively affecting the local population. As a result of the planned actions, contact and cooperation will be established with the Partner. The Belarusian partner built a logistics centre which will significantly influence the capacity to receive heavy goods vehicles cleared in the Kuźnica Białostocka border crossing. The expansion of the border crossing results from the demands in relation to export and import of goods.
