Beyond its traditional functions, the Mediterranean forest areas are concerned with new uses, notably in periurban or protected contexts, such as biodiversity, soil and water conservation, carbon storage, leisure… This multitude of functions requires the implementation of new strategies of common actions and participative policies, which imply the different concerned stakeholders. The aim of QUALIGOUV is to attempt the design and the implementation of these strategies and policies, in order to get better governance and a more sustainable management of the Mediterranean forest areas in protected zones. This aim implies a better collaboration between stakeholders of urban centres and those from periurban, rural and forest areas. QUALIGOUV plans to carry out these innovative experimentations (procedures, techniques…) on partners’ sites. They will be framed by a transnational collective reflection of a peer group. This peer group will be composed of external partners and experts, which will allow to capitalize the achievements of the local experimentations, on the Mediterranean scale. Comparisons on the MED area scale will contribute to the development of common tools.
