The project plan was to take 10–18 young North Karelian music groups to perform in Russian Karelia and thus make Finnish pop music better known in Russia and possibly even make it a part of the Russian youth culture. Th e intention was to organise 9 concerts, six in Petrozavodsk and three in Joensuu. Th e concerts would include bands from both countries. Th e bands would give interviews to various media and meet Russian music professionals. Th e concerts were aimed to enhance band activities in North Karelia. Th e bands would also gain valuable experience about performing abroad and the Russian music business. Th e purpose of the project was to improve cross-border rock tourism and to establish permanent cooperation between Finnish and Russian musicians along with the concerts. Th e project also intended to create networks with other Finnish cultural and Russia-activists and to develop its own know-how by training.
