The main objective of the project will be achieved through building new sections of cycling routes. On the Slovak side, 1.541 km of cycling routes will be built with associated infrastructure, markings to help tourists reach the cultural and natural heritage of the town of Dolný Kubín and its surroundings. On the Polish side, 19.98 km of cycling routes will be marked (8.52 km of which is under construction). These sections are related to the already built route from Nowy Targ to Trstená and they will be equipped with associated infrastructure. The Trstená-PL national border cycling route will be equipped with associated infrastructure. The cycling route in Dolný Kubín will be connected to the Trstená-Nowy Targ cycling route, the Orava cycling route, the Orava railway line (45 km), in the vicinity of which, on both sides (Dolný Kubín, Trstená) bicycle lockers will be placed. It will be possible to keep bicycles there and enjoy hiking. The cultural and natural heritage sites of the whole cross-border region will be marked with bicycle boards (21 items). The boards will be installed along the Dolný Kubín-Czarny Dunajec-Zakopane cycling route. Cultural heritage sites located along the cycling route will also be marked, e.g.: the crypts of the Saint Martin’s Church in Trstená. Cross-border cycling maps will be printed for both regions: “Cycling through the cultural and natural heritage of the borderland region”. Informative boards about the cultural heritage installed along the cycling route will inform about the historical railway line where the cycling route is currently marked. Informative boards will also be installed in the vicinity of the Saint Martin’s Church to inform about reconstructed cultural monuments. Furthermore, soft activities on both sides of the border are planned to support the promotion of the heritage.
