The project focuses on creating a new tourist product based on exploiting the maritime heritage attractions connected by sailing paths and operated by traditional sailing vessels. The new tourist product will be developed jointly by the partners from DE, DK, PL, SE, and LT working in the area of maritime tourism, business and culture heritage of the area . The concept will be developed by project partners’ staff, experienced in sailing as well as representatives of maritime heritage sites and vessel operators based on the outcomes of a number of analysis, testing activities, evaluation, meetings, and the international workshops. The main project result will be to increase tourism attractiveness of the SB region by creating and developing a new tourist product based on historical Baltic trade routes. As such, the product will contribute to the programme objective which is increased development of the SB area’s natural and cultural heritage assets into sustainable tourist destination. The project objective will be achieved by creating the new touristic product called “Baltic Maritime Heritage Tours” which consists of several sailing routes. The product will serve different target groups; tour operators who will include the product in their offer and individual tourists who would be the end users of the product. The product will consist of ready-to-use sailing routes which will differ in length, number of countries visited, and duration. All the routes will be connected by the common theme of the Baltic Maritime Heritage. The product will be primarily addressed to the operators/owners of traditional sailing vessels who are the main target group of the project, however it will also create an opportunity for individual sailors and tourists interested in maritime heritage of the region. After the project completion the tour operators will receive a ready product developed by practitioners and experts, fully documented, tested, priced and evaluated.
