The Programme area contains rich and diverse cultural traditions, both in the big cities as well as in the border regions. Activities related to culture and education offer good opportunities for cross-border interaction for people and organisations. In order to support the high quality of educational services, including vocational and hobby education, attention must be paid to cross-border cooperation between local governments and their sub-units. To address the common challenges, music schools from Pskov and Räpina have initiated a co-operation project for exchange of experience, development of music education, teachers'; skills, networking and teaching facilities. The two music schools use different teaching methods and have different strenghts . It is interesting and beneficial for both schools to learn about current teaching methods used in the neighbouring country and to exchange experiences. Considering that in both schools there are areas that are not developed enough or are still under developement, both parties are interested in cooperation. Projects'; main overall objective is to improve cooperation and contacts between educational organisations in Pskov and Räpina, change experiences, develop skills and promote music education as hobby education and preparative education for further vocational or even higher education. Indirect objectives are to facilitate to better co-operation between local municipalities and their sub-unitsand and to the creation of socially and culturally attractive conditions in the regions. Through cross-border cooperation also additional opportunities will arise for music students to perform, to study and to acquire new experiences. Räpina Music School and Pskov Music School have agreed to cooperate as follows: 1. To exchange small delegations of specialists in order to learn about the partner school, it';s various opportunities and conditions; 2. To exchange delegations of teachers, who will learn about the partner school and its curricula and facilities, agree on the terms of any future meetings and observe the classes; 3. To arrange meetings of the students and teachers of brass and percussion departments at music camps organised in Räpina as well as in Pskov; 4. Within 2 years, 4 concerts will be given (2 in each location) together after each music camp; 5. To arrange a visit for teachers of singing, percussion instruments and accordion as well as other interested teachers from Räpina Music School to Pskov where the visiting teachers will deliver lectures, give exemplary lessons and seminars. 6. To arrange a visit for teachers of the piano, accordion and guitar, also other interested teachers from Pskov Music School to Räpina where the visiting teachers deliver lectures, give seminars and exemplary lessons. Also, external experts will be involved (5 recognised specialists from secondary specialist schools and higher education institutions); 7. Both schools will acquire musical instruments for concerts, seminars and curricula development. As a result of the project the cooperation between music schools has improved, teachers and students have acquired new skills, teaching and learning conditions have improved in both schools. Two educational organisations are participating in the project as project partners, during the project implementation also local authorities are engaged (communication activities, management support, participation in Steering Group). Several music camps for students and seminars for teachers will be organized. Total number of participating students is approximately 40 (20 estonian students and 20 russian students). At the teachers study trips and seminars about 30 participants are expected (15 from Estonia, 15 from Russia).
