The project aims at comprehensive development plans for sustainable fishery in the regions of Vakka-Suomi and Väinämere. Development plans cover the following themes: professional fishing, fishing industry and trade, training needs and business skills, fishing tourism, fisheries management and protection, and the image of Vakka-Suomi and Väinämere as specific fisheries regions. The development plans are produced in workshops of local fishery sector actors together with authorities. The bottom-up development approach assures that all essential objectives are discussed and prioritised and, all parties are committed to promote the plans. The Finnish-Estonian cooperation in the target areas brings value added to the work in the form of networking, knowledge exchange and transfer of participatory planning experiences in both areas.
