The Ecy-Twin project aims to raise awareness and support SMEs in their eco-design and sustainable development initiatives, so that they can market products or services with a controlled environmental impact in line with consumer expectations. The aim is to facilitate SMEs' access to tools such as Life Cycle Assessment, carbon footprint, use of best available technologies, Eco-Design and help them implement innovative business models such as functionality economics. The aim is to get the competence centres and SMEs to work together to provide them with new levers for growth. To achieve this, the project is structured around the following actions: raising awareness and providing information (via technical days and seminars) on the challenges of the circular economy and eco-design; identifying and inventorying the expectations of the target audience in order to bring out new projects by grouping companies around themes such as eco-design, circular economy and sustainable development; supporting interested small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in research and development to implement the identified projects. The development of a decision support and cost optimisation tool is planned; development of “demonstrators” (prototypes, eco-designed product samples, innovative concepts, etc.) in collaboration with SMEs and distributors, exploitation and “popularisation” of the content of R&D results for a wider audience; communication of results.
