The Lithuanian-Belarusian project territory consists of large forested plots, open areas, rivers, lakes and marsh-peat complexes which have been exposed in the recent years to frequent and severe natural and man-made disasters. The fight with turf and forest fires is often aggravated by lack of fire disaster response methodology, old fire fighting equipment and low level of environmental awareness on both sides of the border. The project aims to improve cross border cooperation mechanism of natural and man-made fire prevention by exchanging the best practices and developing the mutual cooperation model between Lithuanian, Latvian and Belarusian.
