The project’s main object was to develop cooperation between the sports communities of Plunge, Lithuania and Bauska, Latvia by promoting joint activities between people and organizations from these towns, providing sports activities for all ages and developing the capacity of selected municipal institutions in providing better services in this field. Project implementation has had a positive effect on the health of local inhabitants, decreased crime and improved overall living conditions to all citizens. To achieve that, common standards for organizing different sport activities have been developed through joint trainings and competitions. In addition, a web-based platform has been created for sharing information on sports and sports events in the border region. Various thematic workshops and three joint sport event trainings, several competitions have been held in Plunge and Bauska in scope of the project. Plans have also been created to improve the infrastructure for sports activities, including the construction of a new sports complex in Plunge and improvement of the current sports complex of Bauska.
