The idea behind the project is to protect and develop the cultural heritage of the Polish-Slovak borderland and disseminate knowledge on this subject by creating a new tourism product and making the offer of museums from the Polish and Slovak Orava and the Nowy Sącz area more attractive. The project, which is implemented by 5 partners, including 2 from Poland and 3 from Slovakia, will involve the following activities: 1) Renovation and refurbishment of crafts ateliers and industrial plants in the Slovak part of Orava – the task will include the renovation of 10 buildings in the Museum of the Slovak Village in Martin and 5 buildings in the Museum of the Orava Village in Zuberec. In addition, the buildings will host exhibitions on linen processing, beekeeping and apiculture, as well as traditional woodworking; 2) Development of the folk industry sector of the Nowy Sącz area in the District Museum in Nowy Sącz – which will include operative wooden industrial structures driven by water, i.e. windmills, two sawmills and a pandy; 3) Development of the rural industry route in Orava – reconstruction, rebuilding and refurbishment of buildings in the Orava Ethnographic Park Museum in Zubrzyca Górna, including the reconstruction of a dyery from the 18th century together with its refurbishment, a mangle room with a horse gin mangle and the transfer, maintenance and reconstruction of a historic homestead in order to transform it into a carpenter’s workshop and a shingle roofing workshop; 4) Organisation of conferences and seminars – research papers and exhibitions will be presented at the seminar in Slovakia, organised for ca. 50 people. Also, a popular scientific paper (1,500 copies) and a bilingual post-conference paper (1,000 copies) will be published. At the summary conference in Zubrzyca Górna, a research paper will be presented and a bilingual post-conference paper will be published (1,500 copies); 5) Organisation of open-air events and launch of the Rural Industries and Crafts Route – the task involves creating an interactive and a hardcopy map and the organisation of crafts shows during events at each partner’s country; 6) Promotional activities – film production, website, campaign.
