Brief description of the consultancy firmThis Irish-led project, lasting two and a half years, brings together ten partners from four Member States in a project whose objective is to assist SMEs in making better use of existing technologies to stimulate economic expansion. Significant investments have already been made in many EU Member States in the development of broadband telecommunication networks through the provision of fibre-optic cables to support the spatial planning strategies of each region. Nevertheless, these transnationally-linked networks are under utilised by SMEs so far. TESIS (Technology Supported 5 Innovation & E-Business in the Information Society) seeks to promote the potential of this technology for e-business and encourage SMEs to be more innovative in their utilisation for management, production and business activities. The project partners will work with SMEs through a four-stage planning and development process to assess individual needs, investigate transnational benchmarking and implement new technologies and e-strategies in the market place. The project is relevant to the development of the information society, and considers the transnational implications of company expansion strategies on spatial development in the NWE.
