ROADEX III
ROADEX III: Interactive and innovative road management of low traffic volume roads through a technical information exchange across the Northern Periphery
Basic information
-
Brief description of the consultancy firmThe road network across the Northern Periphery plays a vital social and economic role in the development of communities, but the environmental and climatic conditions mean that maintaining and developing it is a challenging task, particularly given the low volumes of traffic. The ROADEX Article 10 pilot project and the NPP ROADEX II project have sought to address this issue, and have proved successful and productive over their six-year life in developing the interactive and innovative management of low volume roads across the Northern Periphery. The ROADEX network has significantly increased the Partners’ understanding of their common problems, needs, opportunities and knowledge base. This sharing has produced tangible benefits in the form of cost effective and money saving projects on the local road networks, and a significant quantity of new roads related information has been produced in the form of surveys, questionnaires, interviews, test structures, research, construction and monitoring reports. The ‘ROADEX III Implementation Project’ will concentrate on taking the substantial quantity of ROADEX best practice, research knowledge and innovations out into the Partner areas across the NPP, so that it can be implemented and used in practice on the partner road networks.
