Brief description of the consultancy firmThe aim of the project was to build good neighbourly relations and improve the knowledge about the neighbouring country as well as to promote regional stability and the social development of the neighbouring regions by elaborating on the Finnish and Russian concepts of a Rechtsstaat or constitutional state. The purpose was to facilitate the understanding of the differences of legislation of Finland, the EU and Russia by means of education. The national purpose of the project was to add to the knowledge of operators (entrepreneurs, police authorities, representatives of the judiciary system, employees of the Finnish Border Guard and customs, employment officials, employer organisations, employee organisations and business services organisations) of North Karelia, North Ostrobothnia and Kainuu about the Russian judiciary, administrative and legislative systems and thus mitigate the cooperative prerequisites of businesses with the Russians. The aim was also to develop the know-how of the Continuing Education Centre of the University of Joensuu in this sector, as part of the Cross Border University project, coordinated by the University of Joensuu, the Master’s programme of Russia, and legal education. The quantitative target was the education of 30 government officials and 20 entrepreneurs.
