SIPROCI
Interregional response to natural and man-made catastrophes
Basic information
-
Brief description of the consultancy firmThe SIPROCI project connected 13 partners from 7 European countries in order to discuss and develop new approaches, perform field tests and pilot exercises of disaster management. One element of the project’s activities was the exchange of best practices for good disaster management and to lay down minimum standards and “rules” for “Local Plan of Civil Protection”, which can be of use for any local authority in Europe. Furthermore, the population and its preparedness is the core of a sound response to any emergency. For this reason the SIPROCI project has concentrated its communication activities on citizens, especially pupils by organising info days and knowledge competitions. Moreover one of the project’s working groups has developed a glossary of civil protection terms translated into 8 European languages and developed a proposal for pictograms used for marking the emergency gathering places. The collection of project results was presented during the final conference (organised together with INTERREG IIIC East project RESCUE that tackles issues in the similar area and DG Civil Protection) in April 2007 and is available as download in the section below or at the project´s website.
