The project will generate new cross border knowledge about south Sami history and culture landscape. Such documentation is necessary for understanding of importance and value of the ground. Results from documentation will become an important basic data for planning that can contribute to growth and development of industry. The material will be accessible and used in order to strengthen Sami peoples work towards increasing local influence in administration of the mountains. The project shall bring out traditional Sami knowledge and use of landscape for pointing out continuity and quality (intensity) in using soil as well comparing it today’s use and dependence to landscape, people and reindeer. Also other Sami industries than reindeer breeding as hunting, fishing and farming will be highlighted in the project. It’s crucial to make south Sápmi landscape and people’s presence in landscape visible and strengthen. South Sami history and areas for settlement and industry are, not least in Sami connection, unfamiliar with.
