Minorities' agriculture - Detection and enhancement of the cross-border typical products
Basic information
-
Brief description of the consultancy firmThis project stems from the shared need to enhance the resources of the primary sector, that are connected with the Italian minority in Slovenia and the Slovenian minority in Italy. The project is especially addressed to farmers, their trade associations and the other representative associations, together with various professionals (wine stewards, tasters, journalists, etc.) and all the inhabitants of the cross-border area and tourists. The general objectives are the joint detection and enhancement of some resources in the cross-border territory, focusing in particular on the typical and traditional local types of production, that are peculiar to the territory. They represent an added value, for they typify the area inhabited by the respective minorities. Several types of local production are characterized by a very high quality: wine, olive oil, honey, dairy products, sausages, but also fruit and vegetables, products which derive from both border countries.Yet, these small producers lack the necessary connections and joint activities to analyse products, to open an information centre and to equip themselves with information and enhancement instruments. The project envisages the detection and mapping of typical products, the opening of an information centre in the cooperative Dolga Krona in S. Dorligo/Dolina, information and training initiatives, workshops, the organization of fairs of tyipical products from the cross-border area, the preparation of multilingual information material, the promotion of such initiatives and of the results achieved.
