Basic information
-
Brief description of the consultancy firmThe objective of the APaNGO project is to find ways of increasing community involvement in the spatial planning process, particularly at the regional level. The first phase of the 1.2M Euro project will develop a comparative understanding of the techniques, systems and infrastructure available for helping the general public and community groups constructively engage in planning and development decision-making. The project, which is being led by the UK’s Town and Country Planning Association, will test methods and processes for involving local people in regional planning. Through this process, APaNGO will enhance skills and resources for community involvement in planning. The project will also create a standing, transnational forum of non governmental organizations and regional planning bodies to pool skills and experience gathered during the project, which can then be used to help deliver regional planning throughout NW Europe. The forum will also provide community representation in the forward planning process at the city, regional or European level and so provide an enduring resource for community involvement in planning.
