SOIL TAKE CARE assesses metals and hydrocarbons presence in selected contaminated areas from France, Spain and Portugal due to chemical and mining industries. The presence of these contaminants is harmful for the environment, and human health as the contaminated zones are close to villages/cities and present in agricultural soils, groundwater, beaches and seas. The study areas of the project are old contaminated sites. Concretely, the mining zones are abandoned sites and the chemical wastes are stored in a dumpsite without further treatment. SOIL TAKE CARE responds to the specific concern regarding the risk of such contamination for human health and ecosystems.
