The overall project goal of SONDAR is to protect soil and restore biodiversity in the Danube Region. To reach this goal, sustainable operations between sciences, local and regional alliances, schools and the public in all Danube countries are necessary. A network was already set up between partners in Hungary, the Slovak Republic, the Czech Republic and Austria. Within the START project SONDAR+, a painting box with soil colours from all Danube countries was developed to raise public awareness for the importance of soil. A biodiversity map was created to summarise data regarding types of soil, erosion risk, water retention etc. Finally, a project concept for the overall SONDAR project was elaborated by the partners.
