The main challenge of the project is to use the potential of San and Strwiąż rivers for developing innovative tourist products in the border area based on the common natural heritage of both rivers. These products would be used as means for increasing tourist traffic. During the past decades majority of rivers in Western European countries were regulated. At the same time in Podkarpackie region and Ukraine such construction works were not that common. Nowadays the unchanged sections of San and Strwiąż rivers provide a competitive advantage to the Polish-Ukrainian border area (the area presents a huge tourist potential due to its natural character, however there is no tourist offer or it is insufficient). The ecosystems of these rivers are interconnected. The source of the San river is located in Ukraine and the source of the Strwiąż river is in Podkarpackie region in Poland. The first part of the project will involve the inventory of tourist and natural potential of the area and development of tourist products based on natural heritage of the borderland. The second part of the project will include promotion of this potential. The promotion will be focused on package offer for the tourists (developed earlier by the experts). The promotional activities will include: - 4 promotional events for tourists and media enriched with elements of niche tourism e.g. meetings with nature photography instructor, ornithologist specializing in bird-watching, ichthyologist; - printed materials such as tourist maps with attractive tourist routes proposed and described (maps will also include safety information about water tourism); - online marketing including: development of online multimedia guide with sounds of nature, video campaign and campaign in local media.
