The BIDIREX project is configured as an extension of the GESCONTRANS project. The BIDIREX project aims to strengthen and consolidate the objectives in line with the first project to promote joint actions by improving transport infrastructure in order to facilitate traffic flow and permeate the Pyrenees through the only cross-border crossing linking the Midi-Pyrenees Region with the Aragon Region on the basis that good road communication is achieved by a two-way and safe traffic route. Taking into account the socio-economic implications of the continuous and safe operation of the Aragnouet-Bielsa Tunnel for the areas of influence, and the negative effects on the economy that currently occur due to the alternation of traffic, this project proposes to implement measures to restore safe two-way traffic for light vehicles.
