Population and economic growth in the Mediterranean Sea Basin is nowadays mostly concentrated in urban areas. The improved quality of life of urban populations has become a determining factor for the development of the whole Mediterranean region. To support the development of the Mediterranean area, a system of socially and economically efficient cities should be fostered. USUDS intends to address the challenge of city development planning through the promotion of urban sustainable strategies and the exchange of knowledge. With that purpose in mind, the project will focus on the implementation of three specific Urban Development Strategies in the cities of Sousse, Saida and Laranca as well as on the creation of three Knowledge Transfer Centers in Málaga, Sfax and Al Fayhaa.
