Wine tourism is becoming increasingly popular all over the world. This makes it necessary for European towns and regions to join forces to invest in the wine tourism market and to consolidate our leadership, in spite of the prestige of other winegrowing areas. There has been a certain degree of isolation amongst towns and regions and even inside towns and regions between the different agents, entrepreneurs, professionals, local governments, etc. The main weakness is the need to strengthen the shared European framework in order to link the various operators and authorities. Overall objective / Objectif général The VINTUR project aims to create, develop and consolidate a European forum for wine towns and wine regions. Through specific proposals, the project should improve coordination of the network of wine towns, promote the sharing of knowledge and technologies and carry out new actions to encourage wine tourism and enhance wine culture. Expected results / Résultats attendus The first stage of the project will be to establish, develop and consolidate efficient operational procedures for the network and the physical and virtual fora to function. Having created this permanent sphere for cooperation, a Charter for European Wine Tourism will be drawn up, establishing guidelines to meet the requirements of tourists and consumers. The project also includes the production of a manual on wine tourism strategy, proposing new methodologies for the promotion of wine tourism and wine culture.
