WAVENERGY
Regional development plan for use of Atlantic wave energy
Basic information
-
Brief description of the consultancy firmThe objective of the WAVENERGY project is to create a plan to define the actions and priorities to be carried out for the development of wave energy. This plan will be very useful for regions that wish to seriously aim towards this kind of energy and will be made available to the public and organisations through a web page. The first phase of the project consists of drawing up the aforementioned plan, which will contain the following information: the natural conditions required to generate wave energy, the advantages of this kind of energy, types of financing, methodology to define the location of energy generators, conditioning factors, variety of existing devices, etc. This project will focus special attention on ports, because they have an infrastructure with an enormous impact on the related environment and their facilities could be used to build wave energy generation systems.Later, in the second phase, the project will include a pilot project that will test the feasibility study methodology to implement wave energy collection systems in different ports. This methodology will be tested in the specific case of the industrial docks of Granadilla in the south of Tenerife. The study will assess the most suitable locations to set up the energy generating facilities and the different systems that have been developed in the market, defining which ones are the most suitable for the coastal marine environment in each place.
