The health of their citizens is one of the central objectives of the European Union and essential for social cohesion and inclusiveness.

The Health Cluster which is part of the second pillar of Horizon Europe wants to promote the development of new health technologies and healthcare, both available and affordable for citizens as well as to rendering health care systems more accessible and sustainable, including through the digital transformation of health and care.


The program has six more specific Targeted Impacts which are reflected in six subprograms of the cluster called Areas of Intervention, which are:

  1. Health throughout the Life Course
  2. Environmental and Social Health Determinants
  3. Non-Communicable and Rare Diseases
  4. Infectious Diseases, including poverty-related and neglected diseases
  5. Tools, Technologies and Digital Solutions for Health and Care, including personalised medicine
  6. Health Care Systems
